Brittany Lockley was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, so she is no stranger to the sun. She grew up with afternoon thunderstorms and hurricanes as second nature. She has seen numerous hurricanes and tropical storms, which prompted her interest in meteorology at a young age.
But it wasn’t until the 2004 hurricane season, and particularly Hurricane Katrina in 2005, that she realized the magnitude of the storms. Hurricane Katrina continues to be the catalyst for her mission to educate, inform, and empower people about all aspects of weather.
She received her Master of Science in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University in May 2019. She got teaching expertise as an instructor for the Introduction to News Writing and Reporting class in Starkville. Brittany also interned at WTVA-TV in Tupelo, Mississippi, where she assisted with the coverage of a tornado outbreak on April 18, 2019.
Brittany most recently worked as a weekend evening meteorologist for the Black News Channel (BNC) in Tallahassee.
She enjoys dancing, jogging, binge-watching Netflix series, and spending time with her loved ones in her spare time. Brittany adores the beach and is unafraid of a little heat and humidity.
