Bret Baier is an American news journalist and political correspondent who is the host of Special Report with Bret Baier on the Fox News Channel and the chief political correspondent for Fox.

Baier currently holds the position of Chief Political Anchor and is the host of “Special Report with Bret Baier” on FOX News Channel. This show, airing on weeknights from 6 PM to 7 PM, consistently ranks among the top cable news programs and has claimed the number one spot in its time slot. Based in Washington, D.C., Baier’s journey with FOX News began in 1998 when he joined as the network’s inaugural reporter in the Atlanta bureau.

His career in television commenced at a local station in Rockford, Illinois, before advancing to WRAL-TV, a CBS affiliate in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was in 1998 that he made his mark with an audition tape sent to Fox News, leading to his appointment as the network’s Atlanta bureau chief.

During a pivotal moment in history, Bret’s trajectory shifted dramatically. In response to the Pentagon attack, he embarked on a journey from Georgia to Arlington, Virginia, to cover the events.
