Anthony Johnson Biography
Anthony Johnson is an American journalist currently working as a reporter for WABC News. He also worked for 1010 WINS Radio before becoming a news anchor for ABCNY7 News.
Award-winning journalist Anthony Johnson has worked mostly on radio for the majority of his career. Anthony reported important news events for 1010 WINS Radio in New York City for almost ten years, such as the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the tragedy of TW Flight 800, and the Long Island Railroad massacres.
For his series on the history of African Americans in New York City, he most recently got the regional Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio and Television News Directors Association.
Anthony became a reporter for Eyewitness News in January 2001. He contributed his broadcast skills, in-depth local knowledge, and upbeat personality to one of the top New York television stations.
Recently, when we watched the Bronx “Baby Bombers” baseball team compete in the Little League World Series and the ensuing controversy, his influence could be seen on screen.
During the horrific events at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, he was also present with the Eyewitness News crew of reporters and photographers.

Johnson was on the air live just minutes after the first buildings started collapsing, providing viewers a succinct, first-person glimpse of the destruction and exploring the effect it had on the countless numbers of New Yorkers whose lives had been irrevocably altered.
Johnson has climbed the ranks to enter the most competitive broadcast sector across the nation. He served in Washington, D.C. before moving to New York. He worked at WTOP radio, the only news channel in the capital of the country.
Anthony then took on the role of Head of Media Relations for Atlanta, Georgia, Congressman John Lewis. Johnson was in charge of managing the public relations efforts in Atlanta and Washington. He was responsible for planning press conferences, overseeing the daily press briefings, and producing speeches and news releases.
