Vargas joins the 13News Now team as a multi-skilled journalist in January 2020. Angelo is no stranger to the Commonwealth of Virginia. He attended high school in Fredericksburg, Virginia, about two hours north of Hampton Roads. He also has family in the state!

He spent four years covering news along the US/Mexico border before starting to report in the commonwealth. He was able to travel from Brownsville to El Paso along the south Texas border, focusing on how people lived in the gaps between the border fence and other immigration stories. He also spoke on a variety of issues that affect the community, such as crime, mental health, and natural catastrophes across Texas.
