Adaure is a multi-skilled journalist who works out of our Sarasota Bureau and joins 10 Tampa Bay from our sister station WFMY News 2 in Greensboro, North Carolina. She is in Florida because she has a strong passion for journalism and storytelling, and she is eager to learn more about the people and locations that contribute to the Suncoast’s radiance.

Adaure covered a variety of topics concerning problems that affected communities in Greensboro and the North Carolina Triad before traveling further south of the Carolinas into Citrus Country. In addition to the 2020 elections, they included the fallout from Hurricane Florence, how the COVID-19 epidemic affected people’s life, and the numerous people who demanded civic justice, fairness, and equity during the “George Floyd Protests.”

Adaure formerly worked at WCTI in New Bern as a weekend morning anchor, producer, and multi-media journalist before joining the TEGNA team.

Adaure was raised in Atlanta but is a transplant from Lagos, Nigeria. However, Charlotte, where she was born and relocated to soon after finishing high school in Nigeria, is where her roots in North Carolina began.

She earned a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and Mass Communications while attending UNC-Chapel Hill, where she was also heavily involved in the pan-African student organization O.A.S.I.S. Because of her curiosity and spirit of exploration, Adaure has traveled across the Atlantic Ocean and returned in addition to living on the West Coast of the United States.

She served as a full-time and independent journalist for foreign media outlets covering the West Africa sub-region for eight years in Lagos, Nigeria.

She served as the bureau chief and West Africa Correspondent for Arise News and eNews Channel Africa (ENCA), both of which are based in Johannesburg, South Africa. In these capacities, she covered numerous events, including the kidnapping of the Chibok School Girls, the Ebola epidemic, regional presidential elections, and the Boko Haram terrorist insurgency.

For international news organizations like Reuters, Al Jazeera, France 24 and France 5 TV, as well as an NGO called Fight Against Desert Encroachment, she worked as a freelance field producer for news editorial projects (FADE). Due to the latter, I was invited to join a multi-nation road trip that traveled from Lagos to Senegal around the edges of the Sahara Desert. She camped out on the open savannah in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Senegal throughout this journey.

Adaure also established a portfolio business that at the time offered editorial, logistical, technical, and support services to foreign reporters and TV crews traveling to the region of West Africa to work on reporting assignments.

While working full-time as a morning news anchor, breakfast show host, news reporter, and producer at Silverbird TV, Adaure established herself as a household figure in Nigeria while pursuing her aspirations. She also served as a presenter and correspondent for Studio 53, a well-liked leisure and travel program on MNET. Adaure traveled during that time, scaling the Great Wall of China and spending time at the Cape of Good Hope with black foot penguins.
